Objective

My objective for this school project was to create a branding package for my personal brand. The package includes logo variations, a resume (seen on my About page), and this website. I have also included a style tile and site map.

Process Overview

Adobe Illustrator was used to create the logo variations, site map, and graphics for the style tile (a provided template). InDesign was used to create the resume seen on my About page. And this site, of course, is a WordPress site.

For the logo, I went with an uncomplicated design that uses thick lines and a (partial) circle to create the initials H and, in the negative space between the columns, a C. This design was chosen because it reflects some basic design elements (line, shape, space, form) and principles/theories (contrast, simplicity, emergence). The simple black and white variation is used for the browser icon. The brand colors depicted in the full-color logo were chosen because of their bright, uplifting, and energizing qualities. The main brand colors are black and white, while the bright colors are used for accent to highlight keywords or as background for some assets like business cards. Brand colors and typeface choices were chosen to reflect the personal adjectives of “approachable, creative, and detailed.” A thick-weight slab font is used for large headings and the logo, while a rounded, sans serif is used to create a more legible body copy and subheadings.
